Do you accept Section 8 Housing Vouchers?


Yes — Qwest Property Management accepts all lawful sources of income, including Housing Choice Vouchers (Formally known as Section 8) and other housing vouchers, in full compliance with the Michigan Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, as amended. All applicants are screened under the same written rental criteria, regardless of income source.

For applicants using a housing voucher, we verify the subsidy amount with the administering agency and include that verified amount together with any other income when applying our standard three times (3x) the rental rate income requirement.

Please note that we do not hold or reserve a property during the housing-agency inspection process. Because inspection scheduling and approval are outside of our control, the property remains available and continues to be marketed until it passes inspection. Once the property passes inspection and the housing agency issues approval, the applicant has until 9:30 a.m. the following business day to sign the lease and pay their portion of the move-in costs.

Qwest Property Management participates with housing voucher programs in accordance with all applicable laws. Each property’s participation is subject to successful completion of the required inspection, housing agency approval, and agreement on reasonable program terms.
